Deirdre attended Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles before its closure, having the opportunity to study with Mentor Heubner and John Altoon.

She has also taken classes from several other artists, including Corrine Hartley.

Deirdre has never taken a formal class in Pysanky Egg-Dyeing. She had seen her first pysanky in 1961, when she was invited by a Russian-American friend to an Easter Service at a Russian Orthodox Church.

It wasn't until 1992 that she met a Ukrainian artist and dancer who made it possible for her to see how it was done during a demonstration at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles in 1994.

Since then, Deirdre spends two to three months a year dyeing eggs, and has added several original designs to the hundreds of traditional ones.

She was Assistant Matte Artist to the Academy Award winner Matthew Yuricich on "Star Trek, The Motion Picture", and "First Family".

For five-and-a-half years she taught over-glaze porcelain painting through the MGM/UA Studio Club, including both American Naturalistic and European styles.

Deirdre's portrait of her father can be seen at the Lee Le Blanc Museum, which is part of the Iron County Cultural Museum in Iron River, MI.

In the past, she has been commissioned to paint for several Set Decorators and Production Designers for motion pictures and television series. Her works can be seen in "Foul Play" (the large nude on black velvet in Dudley Moore's zany apartment scene), and in "Carbon Copy" (the portrait that covers the safe), to name two. She was also commissioned to do paintings and make several props for many television series, "McGyver" being amongst them.

She is also a former member of the American China Painting Teachers Association. In addition, Deirdre is a member of the Writers Guild of America West. In the early nineties she and her writing partner Christopher Thinnes wrote three episodes for the tv series "Young Riders".
