Most of the paintings of the garden scenes were taken from photographs, with some modifications. Guache is an opaque watercolor and Deirdre uses Windsor and Newton guache in all of these paintings. Deirdre has been commissioned to paint gardens or houses with gardens from the owners' photographs.
You can add gum arabic to transparent watercolors to give them opacity. |

Her garden scenes and wildlife work have been displayed at galleries in Wisconsin, Palm Springs, and Palm Desert, CA. What is Scratchboard? Scratchboard is an illustration board that has been covered with black ink. You can make your own scratchboard by applying several even coats of India ink to slick illustration board. With several tools, you can improvise with by making your own, the surface of the ink is "scratched away" to reveal the white illustration board beneath. It's rather like drawing backwards, giving you a look similar to an etching or block print, depending on your technique. OIL PAINTINGS At present, Deirdre has no oil paintings for sale. Her wildlife paintings are in private collections in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio and California. |
