In 1992 she won Best of Show with her director's chair at the Los Angeles Leather Guild Leatherama. She called it her Safari Chair, as it incorporated male and female lions on the seat, and the embossed head of a male lion on the top front. It now belongs to an attorney in Los Angeles.

All the items shown are hand carved on vegetable tanned leather.

Deirdre is a member of the International Internet Leathercrafter's Guild and has been carving for over ten years, first studying under Don McCown and Jana Stobaugh. She later attended seminars with Rob Barr, Chuck Smith, Bill Gomer, Rene Berens, Robert Beard, and Peter Main.

Deirdre taught leather mask making classes for five years at the old Tandy Leather Store in Reseda, CA, and also held classes in leather braiding, including appliqué braiding and Turk's Head knot work, plus jewelry beading.

Her leatherwork has been displayed at galleries in Wisconsin, Palm Desert, and Carlsbad, CA. Most of Deirdre's leatherwork is commissioned

She has carved script books for Antonio Banderas and Janus Kaminsky, brief cases with duck designs for two attorneys in Minneapolis, plus day planners, custom wallets, holsters, and bags for other people.
